Holiday Songs for Recorder Free Resource and Updates

I wrote Holiday Songs for Recorder a long time ago. The original version had several different covers and was packaged in a plastic folder. The newest version is a printed book, with green cover with the kids playing recorders.

We updated the recordings several years ago, and this past year, we added the following to the product:

- Piano accompaniments as a PDF file on the disk

- Projectables to use with a SMART Board or computer/projector. The projectables include the performance tempo (fast), practice tempo accompaniments (slow), kids notes.

- we also added SSA arrangements - if you want to add Alto recorder, you have the choice of real alto fingerings or transposed notes. With the transposed notes for alto, students can play an alto recorder but use soprano fingerings.

I like to start recorder in January of 4th Grade, and then do a review of recorder starting in January of 5th grade, using the Recorder Resource Kit 2 which has 2 part soprano and optional alto. If my classes were working on the holiday program, I wouldn't actually teach these arrangements in my class time. I'd make copies of the songs for my 5th grade students who'd played the year before, and give them to any students that wanted them. Because the songs are familiar, the students were motivated to learn to play them, and feedback from parents indicated that many of the students were practicing. (Yay!) I asked the students who'd taken the copies home if any of them wanted to perform as a prelude to the holiday concert, and had a few groups The student who played Silent Night, was a beautiful player and the audience loved it!

We make our projectables large and easy to read - we reformat to fit the screen!

In this collection, and in our Recorder Resource Kit 2, we offer the option of transposed alto parts - use soprano fingerings on an alto recorder.

The piano accompaniments are much nicer to use in performance than acc. tracks.

Christmas Music Lessons:
