Recorder Kit One Updates on MusicplayOnline
We’re excited to share some new resources for Recorder Kit One on MusicplayOnline! You’ll notice the unit is now organized differently—all supporting materials are displayed right at the top for quick and easy access, making it simpler than ever to support your recorder program. This week, we’re highlighting two brand-new resources you won’t want to miss. Click the link below to explore Recorder Kit One.
Available for Baroque and German Fingerings
Double-sided cards (one side: fingering chart, note on the staff, note name; other side: music symbol)
Three bags or containers labeled: Fingering Chart, Note on Staff, Note Name
Print the cards double-sided: one side shows the fingering chart, note on the staff, and note name; the other side shows a music symbol.
Cut out the cards and laminate if desired.
Separate the cards into three bags: fingering chart, note on the staff, and note name.
Students match one card from each category. After matching, they flip the cards to see if they form a music symbol.
Continue until all cards are matched.
Extension:
Have students order the sets in ascending pitch and play them on the recorder.
Divide the class into three groups, one for each type of card: fingering chart, note on the staff, and note name.
There are 26 cards total, so you may need additional sets.
If you are focusing on specific notes, you can print only the sets for those notes.
One student from each group draws a card from their group’s pile.
Students work together to find a matching set (fingering chart, note on staff, note name).
When they think they have a match, flip the cards to see if it forms a music symbol.
If correct, they keep the set and sit down.
If incorrect, they continue searching.
Repeat until all matches are found.
