Explore Orff Arrangements, Lessons, and Activities!

Orff is all about learning music through doing: singing, saying, moving, creating, and, of course, playing instruments! In the elementary music classroom, Orff instruments give students a hands-on way to explore musical concepts while making music together.

This week, we’re sharing three easy ways to find Orff arrangements and resources on MusicplayOnline.

Where to find Orff arrangements on MusicplayOnline?

1. On the Song Page:

  • When you open a song on MusicplayOnline, check the Supporting Resources. If an Orff arrangement is available, you’ll find it under Projectables/Concept Slides and Arrangements.
  • Projectable/Concept Slide - this is to project for your class.
  • Arrangements - this is a printable of the notation.

Below is an example of an arrangement from the song Hop Old Squirrel from Song #17 from Musicplay Grade 1.

2. Units Section - Orff Directory

  • Looking for Orff arrangements based on the notes your students know? The Orff Directory is a great place to start!
    • On the left-hand menu select Units.
    • Narrow down the Unit Category to "Orff".
    • Click on Orff Directory.
    • Explore songs with Orff arrangements organized by tone set.
    • Keep scrolling to find even more resources, including teaching notes, printable posters, instrument labels, and virtual instruments.

3. Instruments Section - Orff

  • On the left-hand menu select Instruments.
    • Narrow down the category to "Orff".
    • Here you can further narrow down the category based on the following: Orff Style, Holiday Orff, Spring, Summer, Winter, and Fall.
    • This section also includes Orff arrangements that aren’t connected to songs in the Musicplay song lists, with arrangements and activities from a variety of content creators.
