# Easy Prep Halloween Fun!

## Easy Prep Halloween Fun!
Halloween is just around the corner, and we’ve got some easy-prep activities to bring a little spooky fun to your music room! This week, we’re sharing some of our favourite **Halloween games, movement activities, and musical treats** that require little to no preparation. Keep your students singing, moving, and making music with activities you can try tomorrow!

## Five Little Pumpkins

Teaching Suggestions:
- Teach the song by immersion, inviting students to imitate the actions as you sing.
- **Add a simple bordun:** Play C–G on barred instruments, if available.
- **Introduce percussion:** Model playing a drum on each number word. Have students identify when you played, then pat their legs on the number words before transferring to drums.
- **Add a second part:** Clap on the responses from each pumpkin, then transfer to sticks.
- **Explore sound effects:**
- “Oo went the wind” – Play a glissando on a glockenspiel or use wind chimes.
- “Out went the light” – Play a vibraslap or another sound effect.
- **Keep it simple!** Start with one instrumental part and add more only when students are ready. Use fewer instruments and simple accompaniments.

“Lazy Bones” is a fun Halloween song for children that tells the story of a lazy skeleton who just wants to dance all day and night. The song has catchy lyrics and a playful melody that makes it perfect for kids to sing and dance along to during the Halloween season. It’s a light-hearted and entertaining way to celebrate the spooky holiday with little ones.

Teaching Suggestions:
- Listen to “Ghost of Tom.”
- Teach the suggested movements in the video above, or create your own. Perform the movements as you sing.
- Divide the class into two groups and sing the song as a round.
- Once students are confident singing in two parts, try three or four parts!
